I just don't see any advantage for candy bars....at least in the US. Would you care to elaborate?

...Sad thing, there doesn't seem to be anyone else on the horizon to fill that void when he is gone. ...

no, but I sometimes think that Andy Rubin believes he's the next Jobs ... at least he dresses similar to Jobs:

    What we will get:

Movie service with 320x240 movies, Airport Express AV with compostie and s-video only.

    :(

Extremely unlikely. Or i`d say it`s impossible. We`ll definitely get DVD quality(atleast as an option). But my guesses are 720p will also be offered to those with a really really FAT internet pipe. Fat enough to fill a human body I guess:D .

I really think Apple will offer atleast 3 resolutions ie QVGA, DVD and(crossing fingers) HD 720p(may be at an extra cost and limited in number of available titles). Apple needs to do something which will set them apart from Amazon. I`ll be really disappointed if all we get is the same as Amazon.

    FINALLY some Mac Pro updates!

    Very interesting....

This does sound logical to me, its a combination of the lines and i am sure would make it convenient for sound and media pro's whom also have other rack equipment like massive disk arrays and audio equipment(them hings with blinkie lights in sound studios :P ).

agreed, hopefully an update with the new FCP X

Exactly! Please let this all come out at the same time so I can buy a completely new setup with the new Final Cut Studio and Lion! :D

    Here's a quick scale / mockup

Please leave the dual super drives Apple! We pros still need those to author DVDs!

Back OT, I've not installed Sophos on my MBP yet, still waiting for more verdicts from you lot :)

The software is fine. You won't notice it unless you encounter malware etc. You can always uninstall it if you don't like it.

That statement means that 2(12) should be done before the division.
So then the answer is 2.

That's not what his comment said.

All depends on whether the (9+3) is on the top or bottom. As the OP typed it, it's on the top.

    48/2(9+3) = 24 * 12 = 288

    48/[2(9+3)] would've been = 2

This may be veering in a direction the OP does not want to go. If so, please ignore.

Speaking of taxes don't believe any politician who seeks your approval by saying "elect me and I'll lower your taxes". Most likely what they are saying is I'll lower your taxes a smidgen, but I'll give a dump truck of tax breaks to the wealthy who as leaders of industry will do their best to destroy your lively hood by exporting your job overseas.

What you want to hear from politicians on taxes is a discussion framed as "what services do we want from government, what do we want to pay for, how and who will pay for it, and expectation that the government will penalize corporations whose business practices are actively lowering the standard of living in this country."

Quite true... Most but not all... And Apple prizes themselves on having a "professional" line. So some products would have to remain out, but Apple usually likes to stick to one thing...
But I really think we are still a few years away from it...

Quite not true... as the fact of google already running datacenters on arm is just a fallacy.

At the end of the day, cloud syncing should not be a paid service -they could easily bake it into the price of Mac hardware (and it probably already is). On the other hand, the IMAP email, iWeb, and gallery hosting it comes with do warrant a premium. Not the current premium by any stretch of the immagination (I get far better deals on web hosting and email elsewhere), but a premium of some dollar value is warranted, I think.

But, when I really think about it, I don't use my MobileMe email for anything important, I haven't updated my galleries in months, and iWeb sites hosted on Apple's MobileMe servers run slower than steam rising off a manure pile. The syncing however, is invaluable.

I think we will see the Core 2 Duo in the iMac, Mac Pro and MacBook Pro line and before Xmas in everything else.

If this does happen it is certainly an excellent turn for Apple and the consumers getting the latest and greatest.

One thing I think the kit can improve on is the voice volume of a call conversation. It could be a bit louder.

Yeah, I felt that too, but it was passable in most situations except for on the freeways. Well, I ordered a Magellan car kit so we'll see what that brings. I am looking forward to just being able to pop the phone into the cradle, case and all.

I wonder if this affects HP's Touchpad. HP has deep pockets as well though.

Deep pockets alone are not enough ... you also need some strategic planing to know ahead what you need and make sure that you get it.

There will be a free version of mobileme, if only to save people having to register for a free AIM account to video conference on the new iPhoneHD.

You know, this makes a ton of sense.

At most it would have the yet to be released Mobility X1700 or currently available Geforce GO7600.

There is simply not enough room for either a Mobility X1800 or Geforce GO7700 chip in this 1" thick notebook. Stay in fairyland . . . why can't people be a bit realistic?

Thanks for the condescending tone in response to an off-the-cuff "would be nice" comment -- it makes you look such a man.

Of course, given the Go 7700 is effectively an 80nm 7600 -- and therefore should use less power -- I'd say it was realistic to suggest it be used.

    Well done.

You think you've got it bad? In Britain we have
milk and beer by the pint
    coke by the litre
    roads by the mile
    tablecloths/fabric etc by the metre
    petrol/diesel by the litre
fuel efficiency is measured in miles per gallon but carbon emissions are measured in grams per kilometer.
weight of people in stones and pounds
    sugar/flour etc in kilograms
    fruit by the pound
    cheese by grams
bread loaves are labelled in grams, bread rolls sold by the dozen.
    height in feet and inches.

It is a mess here. I wish we would switch fully to metric. I think we are getting there, very slowly. For example, 15 years ago the weather used to always be in oC and then oF, now just oC is very common. Supermarkets sell fruit and veg with the per kg price much larger than per lb. The around the corner sells milk by the litre which is nice. More and more people are using metres and kilograms to measure their height and weight. Some things are more problematic, there are millions of pint glasses for beer and all our road signs would be a fortune to replace with kilometres!

The imperial system is crazy, but I think it will slowly but surely die out in the UK. Metric was pushed in about 40 years ago? Give it another 40 and I think we will be fully there!

Hopefully our American cousins will finally see sense and start talking in civilised speak soon.

What would you and Leguna have Samsung do to the Galaxy Tab to make it less "identical"?

Do what every other Android hardware manufacturer has done and come up with their own industrial design.

Btw, how many days does it take for the new MBPs to arrive in the Apple showrooms from the time they are announced?

Ideally, Apple likes to have them in stores, ready to buy as soon as they announce them. But that's rarely the case. Sometimes they get them in right away, sometimes they don't.
